Heating & Cooling

Air Conditioning

At Cahill, we often say that comfort is our business. And with the extremity of Chicagoland seasons, we certainly wouldn't be able to say this without providing air conditioning and heating services for our customers. While we all know that no heating/cooling equipment can last forever, with proper sizing, installation, routine maintenance and periodic checkups, the Cahill team can help maximize your comfort.

No matter how big your space or whether or not it has ductwork, Cahill can cool it for you. We install, repair, replace, troubleshoot and maintain all your air conditioning needs, including:

  • Central air
  • Mini ductless split A/C and heating systems
  • SpacePak, a central cooling/heating system designed for spaces with no existing ductwork (often vintage homes with radiators) that does not require costly remodeling
  • 13 SEER units that meet the new efficiency standards (effective 2006)
  • New environmentally sound units containing PURON (R410A) refrigerant to meet regulations (will go into effect 2010)
  • NATE and EPA certified technicians
  • Ductwork remediation to solve heating and cooling problems
  • Free estimates
  • Guarantee on parts and labor
  • Poor A/C performance consultation
  • Extended warranties and scheduled maintenance agreements

Did You Know?

  • Cottonwood trees are very popular in Chicagoland and the North Shore. Each spring the trees shed white puffballs that coat the ground, looking like snow. These silky seeds can clog your condensing unit, making it important to have your air conditioning unit serviced every spring.
  • Most second floor cooling problems are not that difficult to fix. Cahill will provide a no obligation assessment.
  • Even homes that "can't" have air conditioning (vintage, older homes without ductwork) can be cooled. SpacePak allows even homes with radiators to have central air!

New environmental regulations will be taking effect in 2010. Cahill is already installing equipment that complies with these regulations.

Did You Know?

  • Late summer is the best time to have your boiler or furnace serviced annually.
  • Boilers need water to transfer heat from the main burner to the rest of the house, so water levels should be checked regularly.
  • Hot water heating system radiators should be bled every fall. This isn't always the best practice. When you let some water from all the radiators in your system you reduce the pressure in the system. Usually, there is a device that is part of the system that adds water to maintain a minimum system pressure. Diluted in the new water is air that can damage your system, and cause other problems.
  • If a radiator is having problems providing heat, bleeding it to remove any air should be done. Otherwise, we don't recommend annually bleeding radiators in a hot water heating system.
  • If your furnace doesn't have adequate strength, 90% of the time it has nothing to do with the capacity or operation. It's often simply poor air flow, which can be corrected.
Home heating technology is similar to computer technology. It's improving so rapidly that it may save you money to replace your home's equipment. Talk to your Cahill heating specialist.
